This wedding from last summer was simply stunning set against a backdrop of the majestic river and the mighty mountains at the Fraser River Lodge. April was an adorable bride with her breezy style and spunky personality, and it was clear to see that Colin just adored her. I had an absolute blast shooting their special day.

April, very impressively, sliced the wine bottle open with her Father's machete.

I'm Back!

Well, it's been a looong while since I've last posted- all due to a couple of happy but significant life changes that have happened within our family this past year. Although my artistic wheels have never stopped turning, my focus had been overwhelmed with other more demanding things- and rightly so.... But I've been hard at work and I am back with a vengence- so get ready to see the latest!

As an embrace to finding myself and my inspiration once again, my comeback post is a shoot I just did solely for myself- an expression- combined with some contemplative shots I took recently.

(I highly recommend having a solo shoot done every now and then.

It's a great way to embrace yourself and all that makes you You!)

Isn't she adorable? Little Makayla was a dear to photograph; at only a month old she shone those bright little eyes right up at me. She was so patient too while my big black camera clicked away.

Tanya and Jason Formals

Who cares if it's raining? These guys didn't! When it poured we stayed under awnings and umbrellas, and when the rain drizzled off we ventured out from cover. I must say we got some great shots despite the dismal weather; after all it's about capturing your special day however it turns out.

Who would have thought that weather would be this wet all the way through to June? Well despite the rain, Tanya and Jason had a beautiful ceremony at the local Catholic church. The ceremony was very traditional, witnessed by family and close friends. The wedding party consisted largely of siblings which spoke volumes of family closeness.

I fell in love with the structure and design of the building- it had absolutely fabulous lighting.

There were so many great shots and I just couldn't choose, so this entire post is dedicated to just the ceremony. I'll be back later with formals! Congrats Jason and Tanya! I wish you both all the best :)

Tanya and Shelley wanted pictures done with the men in their life.... their furry little fellas. They specifically asked for a natural, rustic shoot so we headed to a favorite park. The weather barely held out for us, but you wouldn't know it from the pics :)

We went down to the waterfront for our formals, and battled the strong wind and cold to get some shots. The bride and groom were real troopers- they were all smiles despite the difficult weather.

Jaclyn and Jared

Jaclyn and Jared are engaged to be married this summer! They are a super fun couple with great style and a love for pictures. I had a blast working with them- even when we got stranded on the railroad tracks in a torrential downpour. This fabulous couple made the best of it, and I think their pictures turned out beautifully because of it!

Much of this shoot was done at a location I've been wanting to use for a looooong time- I just needed the right couple for it.

These next two shots are high on my favorites list. By this point we were all soaking wet and getting pretty cold. I was starting to get concerned about my equipment, but we powered through and it was worth it!

The rain drizzled off as we made our way to the second location- a daffodil farm. The owners were friends of the couple, and fortunately they supplied us all with rubber boots before we trudged out to the field- some of those mud puddles were treacherous!

Ethan and Marissa are brother and sister. They are wonderful children with big bright eyes and happy smiles that they continuously flashed at me. We pulled together a last minute photoshoot while their grandmother and great-grandmother were in town, so we could get some "four generation" pictures.

Katelyn and Jordan

Jordan and Katelyn were a completely delightful couple to work with. They had their ceremony during Sunday morning church service so that the whole congregation could take part. It was an exciting day, and the building was buzzing with activity and preparation as the bride got ready in an upstairs room.

We had some very chilly March weather to deal with, but everyone was really great about the cold. I'm sure the bride was freezing, but you wouldn't know it to look at the photos :)

I just love this next picture. The cathedral was an afterthought because we weren't sure if photography was allowed inside. (We're still not sure, but we never saw any signs saying otherwise...)

I'm so glad we did- it turned out some super amazing shots.

The stunning architecture still catches my breath everytime I look at it!

Liane Getting Ready

Liane was a beautiful Christmas bride. She got married only four days before Christmas Eve, and looked radiant in her soft winter white.

She was a very relaxed bride and it showed. She seemed to glide through the day with ease, even in those thrilling moments before walking down the aisle.

The Paul Family

The Paul family are wonderful people. I've gotten to know them over the last couple years, and they are the most welcoming, friendly people you'll ever meet. We decided to do our shoot along the river, and the weather even cooperated nicely for us.

Tom is a talented musician who runs the music program at the church. Teresa is an amazing cook (I've been lucky enough to sample her fabulous cooking) and has a passion for nature. Together they make a power couple :)

Moses, Gracie and Isaiah

Moses and Gracie are two happy, energetic kids who enjoy running around playing with their dog. Isaiah is their smiley and contented baby brother.

We did our photoshoot out at their amazing property which sits at the base of a beautiful mountain! They are just beginning construction of their new home so there are lots of big diggers and tractors that the kids enjoy clambering around on.

Their dad owns a logging company, so I think these pictures of the kids playing on the log pile is really fitting :)

Partway through our shoot while mommy and I were preoccupied with the older two, Isaiah spied a mud puddle and went straight for it!

Laura and Randy

Laura and Randy are a great couple who are getting married this summer! They decided they wanted to do an engagement session incorporating all the fabulous fall colors. Being that they live out in beautiful Harrison Hot Springs, we decided to do our pictures there along the beachfront.

Laura and Randy also have a dog named Roxy, who is an energetic Rotweiler German Shepherd. We managed to get a few "family" pictures with her before she decided she'd had enough :)

The Great Blue Sea

We spent some time along the ocean this summer. Hiking, swimming and kayaking- the power of the ocean was magnificent! This shot of my hubby really gets me- I love the rocks standing rigid next to the tumultuous ocean, while a pool of still water is nestled peacefully right beside...

Pankratz Family

The Pankratz family are very special. I believe Doug is the family pastor for the Cedar Valley Church in Mission. He and his wife Jenny co-lead some wonderful programs there, including a couples pre-marriage course that many of my clients have taken. (if you want info, let me know) Their commitment and love for each other and their family is very inspiring.

Doug and Jenny have four amazing children and their family continues to grow- in fact their eldest son had announced that weekend that he is engaged!

Thanks to you guys for being such troopers in the rain. You all look so great despite the damp weather.

Daniel and Kerri

Daniel and Kerri are a spunky couple who were married in Cultus this fall. They had a colorful candy-themed wedding, with homemade fabric flowers and bright green apple urns adorning the tables. Wearing flip-flops and skater shoes, we all strolled down to Cultus Lake beach for pictures.

Kerri is full of life and energy. She and Daniel have three beautiful children who performed the ring bearer and flower girl duties to perfection.

The couple specifically asked for "fun" pictures, so we had a blast with some props from Kerri's stagette party.

Baby Lillian

Meet Lillian. She's a beautiful two month old baby girl, and surprisingly this is not her first photoshoot. Last spring I was able to photograph her when she was still in her mommy's tummy at our maternity shoot. She cooperated wonderfully, and after a bottle she slept peacefully for the entire session.

Lilly has an older brother, Jacob, who has a big smile and loves to say "cheese" for the camera. She also has a big sister, Eden, who's constantly twirling and posing for me. Both kids are great to work with- full of energy and enthusiasm :)

Stephanie and Bill

I had so much fun doing this wedding. Stephanie and Bill were such nice people, and the locations they had selected were just beautiful.

The getting ready shots were taken at her aunt's beautiful home in West Vancouver; the chandelier was particularly special as it belonged to the bride's grandmother.

The ceremony was held in St. David's United Church. The sanctuary had these beautiful glass skylights which shone down beautiful streams of light on the bride and groom. I wish more churches were designed with this feature!

The reception was held at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club which is also where we did the formal shots. The bride grew up yachting and has a special love of boats so we made sure to include them in the shots.

This next one is a favorite of mine. The peaceful water reflecting the stunning watercraft and the cloudy skies in behind made it all so lovely.

The entire evening was fabulous- I thoroughly enjoyed working with you both!

Shannon was a beautiful bride who was married in Campbell River, BC this August. There were so many great pictures from that day that I decided to give a sneak peak at the preparations.

After getting hair done at the Spa, the girls headed up to the hotel room to put on all the finishing touches...

Shannon's two bridesmaids were her sisters. It became very clear how close they all are as they excitedly prepped her for walking down the aisle.

Shannon received a special gift from her mother before leaving the hotel- a beautiful charm bracelet.

Kim and Adam were married on August 8th at the Fraser River Fishing Lodge in Agassiz, BC. The weather was pretty gray but it turned out some beautiful pictures none the less. This next shot was taken prior to the ceremony, and I have to say it ranks as a favorite for me.

It was a particularly windy day so we had to battle with a lot of hair blowing across faces.The bridesmaids were really adventurous and willing attempt almost anything. The jumping shots were a favorite.

Scott and Alycia

Scott and Alycia were married at the Redwoods Golf Course in Langley, BC. The ceremony was situated within a small grove of trees on a wooden platform- absolutely gorgeous!

The couple had chosen a great rustic location for their formal pictures with lots of old wooden structures and beautiful tall trees. It made for great pictures!

The bride is a dog trainer, and they had two of their own dogs included in the wedding party. We got many great shots of the dogs being dogs- as per the bride's request :)

Pam and Cole were a great couple to work with. Both of them were very natural and seemed at ease in front of the camera. They had scheduled their wedding for later in the day, so we got lots of beautiful evening sunlight for the shots.

Pam's father had a great car which was used for this shot. She looked so beautiful with the sun shining down on her.

The fire station in Mission, BC has an antique fire truck which they allow for public use. We got so many great shots with it, it was hard to choose which ones to show.

Jeff and Joeline had a beautiful wedding at Minter Gardens outside of Chilliwack. It was a gorgeous sunny day, and the gardens were looking spectacular! The ceremony was outside under the tent surrounded by beautiful hanging baskets, with delightful music playing in the background- it was all very picturesque.

The groom's daughter was flower girl. She had such a bright little smile, it was very easy snapping a good photo of her :)

Robert and Maggie

Robert and Maggie are a delightful couple. They truly love each other, as evidenced by their commitment. The wedding was at the Columbia Valley Hall just past Cultus Lake. It was a beautiful rustic location, and we had gorgeous sunny weather which made it even better.

I love the next shot. We were all getting very warm in the hot weather, and the bride (who must have been twice as warm as the rest of us in all those layers) flopped down on the grass. There was something very angelic about it...

The flag shot was a request from the couple. Since he was from U.S. and she was from Canada, they wanted to pay tribute to their different nationalities.

Rick and Nadine had their wedding in beautiful, historic Clayburn Village (Abbotsford, BC). The church bell rang from the little stone steeple sending music through the trees and putting smiles on faces. The couple looked absolutely radiant in the warm afternoon sunshine.

Nadine is very close with her sister Lindsey who was also her maid of honor. I just love this picture of the two of them with the sunlight peeking through behind.

This beautiful wedding was in Yarrow, BC. The ceremony was held in the backyard of Mike and Debbie's family friend. There was a little concern about the weather holding out and although rain clouds hovered around all morning, everything turned out nice and clear for the entire afternoon!

Hypnotist: Lee Dyson

Lee is a comedic hypnotist who puts on a great show! (check out: themagicofthemind.ca) He had just had his website re-done and needed some headshots taken for his profile.

I also worked with Lee photographing one of his live shows- it was highly entertaining!

Shannon and Jeff

Shannon and Jeff are getting married this August. For their engagement shoot we decided to go to Mill Lake and get some great evening shots around the park.

The park was super picturesque! With big beautiful trees everywhere and the setting sun peeking through the branches, you couldn't ask for a better backdrop!

Shannon and Jeff wanted to include some shots with their dog but we only managed to snap a few before he decided he'd had enough.

Marcel and Liane are getting married this year and wanted to do some engagement photos. They asked me to accompany them to the "Tulips of the Valley" festival and take pictures among the flowers. Not only did we get great color from the tulips, but we got to have beautiful British Columbian mountains as a backdrop!

Marcel is a Ford man, and got his new truck a few months ago. They asked to incorporate it into a few of the pictures.

Marcel was wearing a distinctive belt buckle that I didn't think should go unnoticed.

We had a gorgeous day for Jeff and Jessica's wedding! Considering it was an outdoor ceremony in mid-April, we were very fortunate. Everything went beautifully, the bride and groom were radiant in the warm afternoon sunshine.

When you see a sign like this, you have to use it. And how can you go wrong when you have all this grand British Colombian scenery in behind each shot.

This next one was such a great "right place at the right time" shot. I love it!

There was a beautiful blossoming dogwood tree next door to the wedding site- I was thrilled! So we traipsed over and got some great shots under it.

The bride had a fairly prominent dragon tatoo on her left shoulder blade. I thought it would be neat to incorporate it into some of the shots and I love how this picture turned out.

Ashley and Travis

This was such a fun photoshoot! It was great that Ashley and Travis were so willing to do it in the rain- and we got some amazing shots because of it!

It also thrilled me that they were so willing to go along with funky backdrops. I love all the color we were able to capture!

Ashley and Travis are getting married this summer, so this was their engagement shoot.

We ducked inside a "Baskin' Robbins" that was near the beach, and they offered for us to take photos in their shop. They were super accommodating and even gave us free ice cream! How great is that!

The Baboth Wedding

This was a beautiful wedding! The ceremony was held in a little country church, with no more than 50 guests attending. Being that it was March, we were fortunate to have a sunny day (it snowed both the day before and the day after)! And the scenic beach location turned out beautifully as a backdrop.

The wedding party consisted of the bride's two beautiful daughters.

Baby Chase

Chase is a beautiful little guy. He participated quite well for the shoot, especially once he'd had a break for snack time!

I love this picture. Chase's eyes are so bright, and he was so intent on the camera. He was very alert for being only 15 days old.

The guitar in this picture is special because it was a gift for Chase. It was given to him by his Grandpa, and will be something he can learn to play as he grows. Perhaps Grandpa will be the one to teach him.

Ixara was super contented during our photoshoot, except for when he was being changed. But even in his unhappy pictures he was absolutely adorable!

Ixara is very blessed to have a mommy and daddy who love him so incredibly much-congratulations Katrina and Travis!

Nikki and Jamie

Nikki and Jamie are brother and sister. They had a great idea to get some photos done to give to their mom for Christmas. Lucky for us it was a beautiful day!

The dogs cooperated wonderfully!

Having known both Nikki and Jamie for a number of years, it was great to be able to work with them professionally. Happy Holidays you guys!

The Vetters

I really enjoyed photographing the Vetters. Their beautiful acreage ended up being the perfect spot to shoot in the heart of autumn. Emily, Natalie and Tia looked lovely in their matching dresses, mom did a great job of coordinating!

The girls were all smiles, and were keen to show me around the property. Not only was there a great tire swing, but all sorts of climbing trees, and a two storey treehouse!
